Me, Pookey, Arnie, a Drunk Guy, and Friends

Me, Pookey, Arnie, a Drunk Guy, and Friends

This past weekend has been the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando.  We happen to be lucky enough to live right across the street from Bay Hill, so for the past few years, Chris and I have gone to the tournament with friends since it’s a short walk from our house (but, let’s be honest… we still drive…). (Martin Kaymer, above) Last year, we went to the “Wine and Dine on Nine” event.  You purchase a ticket package that gets you into this huge tent on the 9th…

A Perfect Father’s Day Fore Us All!

A Perfect Father’s Day Fore Us All!

On Father’s Day, the kids and I took Chris golfing.  It was the first time we have played as a family of four on an actual course, and not just at the driving range. I was a little skeptical at first.  I mean, golf is everything my kids are not – polite, quiet, contemplative, old.  And yet, they rocked it and had a blast in the process! I learned so much about them on the golf course, actually.  For example, I learned that baseball has completely ruined Bean’s golf swing….

Sunday Funday

Sunday Funday

This weekend we got out and about. Thank goodness. I was getting cabin fever just sitting around the house, so it was nice to be going and doing things. Saturday we ran boring errands, like grocery shopping and finally getting to the Post Office. But yesterday was a lot of fun. After church, we headed to my parent’s house to spend the afternoon. It was Gracie’s first time at their house and my parents were so happy to have another baby there. Gracie was pretty happy to be there, too….

Why Is Hanging Out With Your Wife So Un-Cool?

Why Is Hanging Out With Your Wife So Un-Cool?

This past weekend Bean Man went to stay at his Nana and Granddad’s house.  So, on Saturday afternoon Chris and I decided we would take advantage of our free time and play a round of golf together, just the two of us. There are things you should know about golf and my family.  My Dad is an incredible golfer.  As in, really, really good.  And from the time I was 7 or 8 years old, he had my sister and I out on the golf course.  He said he wanted…

The Golf Faux

The Golf Faux

So this past weekend when I was in Florida, I played lots of golf with my family.   For three days we were out in the hot Florida sun swinging a stick at a tiny ball.   And you know what I have to show for it?   A sunburn.   It looks like I’m wearing a pasty white tee-shirt under all my clothes. That’s me on the left standing next to my dad.   And this was only after Day 1.   It got much worse.   But I…

Approving the Latest Catch

Approving the Latest Catch

As you know, my sister brought her new boy toy down to Florida to meet my parents this past weekend.   I went home to visit, too.   My sister told me that my job was to distract my parents.   I’m proud to say though that everyone was on their best behavior, and Gin’s boyfriend held up surprisingly well.   He was nice, funny, talkative (but not annoying), and actually seemed to (GASP!) enjoy my family.   More important than any of this though, my sister seemed comfortable around…

Greetings from the Geriatric Disney World!

Greetings from the Geriatric Disney World!

Well, I’m in Florida today visiting the ol’ family.   I’m ready for some sunshine, some shopping – who am I kidding?   I’m ready to meet, examine, and then ruthlessly judge my sister’s new sucker boyfriend.   The scene of the crime this weekend is half the fun.   My parents live in what can appropriately be described as Geriatric Disney World, but around these parts its called The Villages.   The Villages is a retirement and golf community just north of Orlando.   And though I make fun…
