Spring Make Over!
Over Memorial Day weekend, Chris finished a home project that he had been working on for a few months. We have this great tree in our front yard that has a flower box built around it. But its not really a flower box. Its more like a few pieces of rotting lumber nailed against a tree. It has bothered Chris since the day we bought the house. I never really noticed.
Since we are poor, he started the project using leftover wood from when we installed our fence when we moved in. Here’s what it looked like when it was half way completed. Sorry, I didn’t take a true “before” picture…
He worked out there all afternoon…
…using big power tools and cedar and things I wasn’t allowed to touch.
So where was I during all of this hullabaloo? Well, since I wasn’t allowed to touch anything, give advice on anything, or generally contribute to the flower box renovation in any shape or form, I entertained myself out in the front yard.
I took pictures of my big feet. I never get tired of staring at them. The swelling amazes me even after all these months.

Tell Chris that that looks fabulous. Seriously. Great job there!
Also tell him that you are busy growing and soon nurturing an actual human being and you have to time for flowers presently!

How pretty! And what a good husband you have.
Your house and yard is so.. American! In a good way 🙂 From what I can see of it, it looks like one of those beautiful, stereotypically American homes you see in movies. Lovely!

Your front yard is so pretty 🙂 I can just see little M playing out there! You can plant flowers and keep them alive..I know it! When you go to the plant place just ask for low maitence flowers and tell them how much light & shade the area gets. Stay way from hydragenas and roses- they are very high maitence!

Chris makes boring man-work look bad@ss! Your toes look very pretty. LOVE the color! I just tried to do mine the other day & it was a disaster. I wish there were some sort of class you could take on how to not screw up standard girly procedures like painting one’s toenails. I’m SO excited about your due date coming up so soon! My friends & I talk about it like you two are our next door neighbors… My mom tells me this is creepy. LoL 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Haha I don’t do outside EITHER! I was giving you credit for just sitting out there and watching him! Tell Chris I said JOB WELL DONE! Looks great!

The box turned out beautifully! I followed your link over from Pioneer Woman’s comment section, and loved the story about the Sock Saviour. I linked to it from my site today. Good luck with your coming due date!

Great flower box!
Congrats on being a new mom soon! What are you going to get for Chris for his very first Father’s Day? So exciting that the bean will be here in time.

What a nice flower bed. I need a worker like that to peel wall paper in my basement.

You’re lucky to have a handy husband! The flower bed is beautiful – good job, Chris! 🙂 Oh, but you should know that it is against the law for pregnant woman and new mothers to work outdoors. 🙂
