Four Month Report

I can’t believe how much Beanie is growing. Every time I turn around it seems as if he’s doubled in size. We went to the doctor last week for his four-month shots. (I cried. Bean cried. Enough said.) The doctor said Beanie weighs just over 14 pounds and is in the 50th percentile for weight. But he is 27 inches long and is in the 90th percentile for height. This is weird because Chris and I are not all that tall. But Chris does have really long legs. So does my Dad, who happens to be 6’4. And Chris’ mom’s side of the family are pretty tall, too. So, he gets his height honest, but its still pretty funny. Maybe he’ll be the kind of kid who looks down on his parents from the time he hits puberty.

That might be weird, actually…

Moving on!

Beanie is also developing at a pretty normal rate, too. He’s holding his head up really great and almost all the time. The only time he gets a little floppy is when he’s tired. But then, so do I. So I can’t really hold that against him. I already told you that we thought he was cutting teeth. But he really just went through a few days of that and then he stopped. I guess teething come in waves. Right how he’s drooling pretty good, but he doesn’t seem to be hurting at all.

A couple weeks ago I posted a video on Beanie rolling over. He had this one great weekend where he rolled around like a bowling ball, but then he just stopped all of a sudden. He hasn’t rolled over since. I don’t know what happened. Maybe he forgot how to do it? Who knows. I’m not really stressing about it. I figure until he’s about 15 and not able to roll over on his own, we’re fine. Milestones are overrated.

In order to keep up with Beanie’s growing, his toys change all the time. Some days he’s into chewy things. Some days he’s into stuffed animals. Some days he’s into books. Some days he’s into rattles. Chris says he’s got ADD. I say he’s eclectic.

Today we got some new toys.

Beanie’s new favorite thing to do it suck on his feet. So, I got him these socks that have rattles on them!

He thinks they are hysterical.   As if his feet could be any more fun, now they have sprouted toys on them.

He thinks he is hysterical.   Now, he talks to his feet like they are friends.   Its pretty funny.

We also got this new pacifier called a RazBaby teether.   Its a binky that has ridges all over it for teething.   Beanie has just gotten to the point where he can put his binky in his own mouth.   He doesn’t usually get the right part in to suck on, but he can hold it, wave it around, and chew on it as he pleases.   So the fact that this binky is bumpy all over it makes it a perfect toy for him.   He waves it around and no matter what part ends up in his mouth, he’s able to chew on it.

HE LOVES IT!!

He also got a new stuffed animal.   I didn’t actually mean to buy this guy.   I was in Babies R Us and I was holding Beanie while I pushed his stroller around (because Beanie pitched a wee temper tantrum about having to be in his stroller).   I saw this bin of cute stuffed animals and I picked on up to show Beanie.   Not to buy it, just to show him.   But then Beanie spit up all over himself, me, the stroller, AND the stuffed animal.   So I figured the “you break it, you buy it” rule applied to spit up and I tossed the toy in my buggie.

Good thing though because Beanie really likes him.

So, that’s what Beanie is playing with this week.   What about your baby?   What is he playing with?

I say this every single time (and will probably continue to :)) but Beanie is the absolute cutest thing I have ever seen in my life! I love every single thing about him from his gorgeous hair to those sweet little feet of his!! I love those little SOCKS!

We had those same socks! Too bad they wouldn’t stay on his feet. They were very entertaining though. I just saw that RazBaby teether this week and thought about getting it. My little guy just chews on his Soothie pacifier anyway. Might as well add bumps to it!

As for what he’s playing with now – he’s loving my (vintage 1993) stereo. He loves to hit all the buttons and move the equalizer knobs up and down. He doesn’t have a lot of real toys. His toys are empty containers and tupperware. 🙂

so cute! my little girl is 5 months and she loves her toes too! any chance she gets she is chomping on them! i also have that razbaby teether thing and she just started putting it into her mouth on her own and loving it! she is really into the remote control too! haha! oh she also loves things that dangle. she taps on these 2 hanging toys from her car seat while i drive and it is so cute because they make this little rattle noises so i know she is playing with them!

Ok, good or bad news depending on how you take it…I was one of those 90th percentile babies in height. Towered over all my classmates…until 6th grade. I was 5’3″ in 5th grade and just STOPPED. (well, mostly) So…who knows what any of it means.

Nate soooo needs that chewy binkie! What a great idea! Nate’s really into anything that spins. He’s got a mini ferris wheel like toy that he loves. It suction cups onto any surface so he likes that it doesn’t tip over or get chucked across the room every time he plays with it. He’s also got one for his highchair (is that one word or two? I never know!). And then his Quack the Duck book. It’s a chewy book with a squeaker. Every time we wash it, the squeaker fills with water, but it’s still a keeper! Love the Beanie toy reports – keep them coming! 🙂

My bubba is the same age as Beanie and she LOVES playing with household stuff. Like I sit her in her chair while I’m cooking tea etc and give her something boring like a tea-strainer, or a spoon, or a clothes peg and her eyes light up. easily pleased huh?!
