Slow Goin’s

This week has been a pretty hectic one.  First, Bean was in the hospital.  Then, my sister came to town to take care of Chris and I while we took care of Bean.  Then, my sister got Bean’s stomach virus and has spent the last 24 hours throwing up in my bathroom.  Oh, and tomorrow we’re supposed to be hosting a group of people at our house all weekend and we can’t cancel because they all bought plane tickets to come visit.

Yeah.  Its been really intense.

So intense, in fact, that Bean has decided he just doesn’t have time for clothing.

Don’t let that smile fool you.  Bean upchucked like a college frat boy about five minutes before this picture was taken.  That’s the thing about babies though.  They bounce back so quickly.

Bean has been in la nude a lot this week because the minute I put him in clothes, he throws up all over them.  Poor Bean Man.

But on the flip side, he does love the wind on his man boobies.

So, if my blog posts have been sporadic, its because I’ve been busy.  I’ve been busy buying Gatorade and making toast for my poor sick sister.  I’ve been busy wiping up throw up off of Bean’s bare little belly.

But mostly, I’ve been busy tickling these little ribs.  Because more than being Dr. Mom, I’m just his Mom.

And that’s what we do.  We tickle ribs and we buy the Gatorade and we wipe up the throw up so that our babies can focus on more important things.

Like man boobies.

I know it will take Bean a little while to realize this…or at least verbalize it…but YOU. ARE. A. ROCK. STAR. (just in case anyone forgot to tell you this week) Keep up the good work mom, and hope everyone feels 100% soon!!!

Hope everyone feels better soon! You are Super Woman-I couldn’t deal with all that puke without puking myself.

The Bean is starting to look like such a little grown up! He’s so adorable!

  • Elisabeth

Glad to hear that everything is, if not entirely better, at least headed in the right direction. It sounds like you’re doing a great job with it all! I know we don’t actually know each other or anything, but I love your blog and I feel like I’ve known you forever (blogs are weird like that I guess), and I’ll admit it…I was getting kind of nervous with no updates today that something else had happened. Very happy to know that’s not the case. I’ll keep your family in my thoughts and hope that no one else gets sick this weekend!

YES! My doctor just told me about that last week! It was the first time I’d heard of it and its awesome! So simple and so effective!

  • Angela

Don’t worry, things will get back to normal soon.
In the meanwhile, it’s times like these where you can see how awesome of a mom, wife and sister you are.

Good luck with hosting this weekend!

P.S Beanie looks so grown up in these pictures.
Even when he’s sick he is still one of the cutest babies this world has ever known.

  • Miss M!

He sure does look pleased with his shirtless little self, doesn’t he? I’m so sorry that you’re having to deal with the sickies. I’m dreading the day when it finally decides to roll around to our place. I’ll be sure to look to you for advice!

I know I say this all the time but he is the cutest baby ever – even when he’s sick! So adorable. I hope everyone is feeling better. If I were in your shoes I would probably be pulling my hair out but it sounds like you have everything under control. Hang in there! 🙂

I’m sorry to hear that things have been so rough, Katie. You’re a real trooper to get through it with such grace, I really admire that. Bean looks more grown up in these pictures, like his face has taken on more of a person shape than a baby shape. It’s amazing to watch your journey, thank you so much for sharing! Good luck and hang in there.

  • Nate's Mom

It is so good to see that smiling face again!!! I echo the above sentiments – you and Chris are rock star parents, and your sister is the super Aunt!!! 🙂

  • Tressa

I.LOVE.THESE.PICTURES. Absolutely the BEST of Beanie yet!!! Just goes to show, this kid is going to rock the world….he is sick and still a rock star!!!
I hope everybody gets to feeling better soon. Bless Ginny’s heart. Try to help and can’t!
Good luck this weekend! I will be thinking about you!

He is the cutest little ill child I’ve ever seen. I’m so sorry things have been hard for you lately. I think the beginning of a new year is always hard. It seems like such a very long time until summer and good things happen. Being sick is no help. I hope things look better for you soon!

  • Jennifer

    Bean’s gone rogue!! Look out!

Sorry ya’ll have a viral plague going on up there. Hope everyone gets well soon. Bean’s looking mighty grown up and cute as ever.

I especially like the last picture. His reflection in the mirror makes me giggle. 😉

  • Jen

Awesome pictures! Glad to see Bean is starting to feel a little better. I hope you and Chris can breathe a little easier. What a week! I wouldn’t have been able to form a sentence yet alone, post a few blogs- but we are glad you did.

That top picture should be entered in cutest baby contest. He wins in my book.

I love your blog. I’m hooked and you make me laugh all the time. Thank you for that.

Man Kate, I’ve missed you! And you want to know why? Because your new posts NO LONGER show up on the side of my blog. According to my blog roll you haven’t posted in 2 weeks WHICH is CLEARLY not true. What happened??? It’s these changes over here isn’t it!!!!? Anyway, I’m sorry about your sister and the bean. I hope everyone feels better soon and that your guests don’t catch it either!

  • Ella

I hope everyone feels better soon and nobody else gets sick. Beanie looks so cute in these pics – i love the expression on his face in the last one!

  • Rebekah

I’m so glad he’s feeling better! Bean is so cute in these pictures. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, but I’ve never commented, but I am now! Like the person above, you’re missing from my blogroll and so I never know when you update! So I’ve missed reading the past couple days, but I always love to read about your life! Praying everyone gets well and stays well!

  • Lisa

Hi there! New to your blog but loving it so far! Your little Bean is a-dorable and I love me a little guy with man boobies! My little guy has been rockin’ the t-shirt and underpants look all week and has the skinniest little spider monkey legs you could possibly ever imagine poking out from underneath his shirt. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!! There is just something about puke that brings the kids to mommy, eh? =)
