Things I’m Loving This Summer

Some fun new things have walked into my little world lately and I thought I’d share them with you. Good finds are worth sharing!

My New iPhone Case

I finally got a new iPhone. I had forgotten how much more helpful phones are when people can hear what you are saying. As much as I love my new phone, I REALLY love my new case. I got it in the Apple store and the brand is UnCommon ($39.95).  I can’t find my actual case on their website, but when I went to their homepage, I saw something even cooler!  You can customize your own case using your own picture!  Well, that’s fun!

“Womb With a View” Baby Sling

I have been using my baby sling so much these days. Gracie is teething (cue the horror movie scream) and she wants me to hold her all the time. To compromise, I’ve had her in her sling a lot more lately. I love this one because the fabric is light enough that she doesn’t get too hot in the summer her and because they have pockets to hold her binky if she drops it. If you’re in the market, you can pick one of these up in my mom’s Etsy shop ($32.00).  Check out her car seat coolers while you’re there.  I use those every day!

The New Triaminic Bottles

First of all, I’m always going to be partial to Triaminic over any other brand of children’s medicine because that’s what my mom gave me growing up. I still take the orange one when I have a cold! Gracie is teething and is none too happy about it, so yesterday Chris brought home a bottle of the new Triaminic Fever Reducer (acetaminophen; $6.49) to bring down her little fever and to make her more comfortable. I was so surprised to find that after all these years, they have changed the bottle. Now, it is so much easier to fill your infant dropper because you tip the bottle upside down. Brilliant! I always hate when you can’t get your dropper down into the bottle for the last bit and now that problem is solved! I hope more medications go to this soon.

My Dad

Though Dad isn’t something you can run out and buy for yourself, I have been so appreciative of him this week! On Tuesday, my dad came all the way down to my new house (over an hour drive for him) just to scrape wallpaper all day by himself. Chris and I weren’t even there. He just showed up to help. Then on Wednesday, he came back down to stay with the kids all day while I went to a meeting all afternoon. And today, he’s back over at the new house scraping wallpaper again all by himself. I can’t tell you what a help he has been. ($Priceless)

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Jumparoo

As Gracie gets bigger, she’s becoming bored just sitting around, so this week I pulled out Bean’s old jumparoo for her. I had forgotten what a great toy this is. She sits in it (though her feet BARELY touch the ground) and just stares at everything and drools all over everything. It’s pretty cute. (Amazon.com; $119.00)

Don’t you love the jumperoo?! Once my baby boy (almost 5 months) grew bored with his swing, the jumperoo saved us! We were sliding phone books under his feet so he could bounce, but can finally reach the floor. It looks like you’re Dad is lots of help – you have such a wonderful and supportive family. I hope getting your new home ready goes quickly!

Very cute phone case. I have yet to break down and get a smart phone. I’m still rocking my flip phone from college. It still works but it gets made fun of by all the other phones on the playground.

I love the iPhone case and I especially love Gracie’s little chubbie feet squeezing out of her ballerina socks under the jumperoo. I also enjoy the picture of dad where I look dazed and confused and a smidge pissed off as we aimlessly wonder the streets of Savannah.

I am not one for usually commenting on the blogs I read… But your Dad! What a awesome man. I love him and he is not even my father! Congratulations on the new house, new baby, and a wonderful family. Cherish it all because even though the days are sometimes exceedingly long, the years fly by!

the triaminc bottle…greatest thing EVER!! target does their prescriptions that way too! i had my sons zantac rx transferred to target just for that reason!!!!!

i am in LOVE with reading your blog….seriously. there are SO many things that i can relate to & am SO relieved that i’m not the only one who goes through some of the things you blog about!!!

Try putting a pillow under Gracie’s feet in the jumperoo. We did this with Lucas so his little feet could touch and he could attempt to jump.

Oh the iPhone…how I love thee. I have gone through 3 cases on mine but it’s still kicking. Sully’s reflux meds are in a bottle like that and for the price of the stupid medication, I’d better be able to eek out as much as possible. Jumperoos are awesome! Our kid would sit in his all day if we’d let him. He’s in an independence phase where he wants to start doing things himself so he wants to see everything from his height, he does not want to be held. umm…oh yes, the car seat cooler is on my list at etsy (along with about 30 other things, that place sucks me in). Oh and your dad’s awesome! There. I think that’s it 🙂

I love the car seat coolers! What a great idea! I am going to have to get one of those for Moose next summer. It’s starting to cool off a bit here, but he was so hot earlier in the summer. Thank you for sharing!

Try the jumperoo outside… there’s all kinds of fun stimulating things to look at in the backyard. Drewbie was entertained for HOURS outside in his jumperoo.. I sat on the porch and read. Glorious.

Grace’s medicine bottle is the same style that Target uses for all of its prescriptions! It’s saved our sanity. I don’t know how parents used to get meds in syringes without the tip-me-upside-down bottle. Love love love! And your dad? ROCKSTAR! I second the car seat cooler thing. We bought one and it’s been a lifesaver. I throw it in his car seat as I’m headed to pick Nate up from school and it’s a reasonable temperature when we arrive! 🙂

Oh, the iPhone, the wonder of my life. What a fun idea to have make-your-own cases! I’ll have to check it out, because my current case is getting a little shoddy (serves me right for getting the cheap one). Also, I love your sling – what a great idea about the pockets – but I also love love LOVE the fabrics your mom picks to make them – so cute! I’ll have to nab some for baby gifts this summer!

I’d actually been looking for a sling now my second son has arrived, thanks for posting the link! I’m kicking myself a little, I really liked the green one and I opened the etsy page about five seconds after your post went live, but then got distracted by my newborn (pesky things they are! :P). Still managed to get one though- hooray!

Yay forDads! I was admiring your sling earlier this week, at 7 months I think Eilidh might be just about too big! Also, love help from Dads, don’t Dads rock!! Also also, loving the jumperoo, we’ve got something similar and now I can be hands free for a good half an hour (or more if I get lucky)

  • Alyssa

Oh my gosh, Gracie is not old enough to be teething. Tell her to stop growing up so fast! My son’s favorite thing in the world was his jumparoo, He cried when we finally put it away, at like 15 months.

  • Erica

I have been desperately seeking a baby sling and yours looks like just what I was looking for. Is yours pretty easy to use and, well, uncomplicated. Some of them require an awful lot of learning to “wrap” it properly. I don’t have a degree in baby wrapping!
