Family Labor
This past weekend, Chris’s mom and her boyfriend, Charles, came to town for a quick visit. We hadn’t seen them since January, and it was time for Grandmomma snuggles.
Coincidentally, the day before their arrival, two pallets of sod were delivered to our house for our backyard.
How convenient!
I think it was pretty darn kind of us to save such an honored task for our visiting family. I mean, that’s, like, noble of us or whatever.
Chris’s granddad and sister came over to help later that afternoon.
Well, actually, Annie and I slept in beach chairs by the pool all afternoon, if I’m perfectly honest. Chris and Annie even told me later that I snored. Further proof that Chris is a lucky man.
A few weeks ago when we were at my mom’s house helping her move, my mom and sister made the comment that I was spoiled by Chris. To which I balked and insisted that was not true at all.
But then I fell asleep snoring in a beach chair while my husband and his family laid an entire backyard of sod and I woke up thinking, “Hmmm… Perhaps they are right…”
In any event, it was really nice to see Chris’s family again. And it wasn’t ALL work. We swam and went out to eat and hung out around the house, too.
So, in reality, they basically went on a vacation this past weekend to see us. A working vacation. Where they helped us with hard physical labor to improve our living conditions.
Sounds a lot like my family just went on a mission trip to Orlando.
And then I posted pictures of them in their bathing suits on their mission trip on the internet.
Crap.
I’m a terrible hostess.
