New Mom Bag

I went to visit a sweet friend of mine last week who has just had her first baby.  The little pooper slept the whole time I was there (the baby; not my friend), so I haven’t gotten to snuggle him up yet.  But I’m waiting to pounce on him the next chance I get! I love going to visit new moms, but I never like to go empty handed.  Of course, food is always a welcomed gift to bring a new family, but I like to really do something nice…

Tried and True Baby Products: Day Five

If you’ve been around these parts for any amount of time, then you’ve met my sister, Ginny.  Ginny and I are only 14 months apart in age and, over the years, our friendship has grown incredibly close as we navigate marriage, family, and parenting together.  As close as we are, though, Ginny and I raise our babies in slightly different ways that work best for our families.  I am learning to love that about our friendship.  She has some great perspectives and thoughts on parenting, and I’ve learned a lot…

Tried and True Baby Products: Day Four

Last week I asked five wonderful mommas to share their lists of must-haves for the first year of motherhood.  I meant to post all their responses in one week, but life happened.  Today we are continuing that series with a list of baby products from the lovely Sarah H.  Sarah has been reading my blog since…the beginning of time, maybe?  She and I have very similar families and we have loved watching each of them grow over the years together via the internets.  Isn’t technology grand???? Hello MC readers! I…

Tried and True Baby Products: Day Three

Today’s list of baby products is courtesy of my bestie, Sarah. It has been such a treat to watch Sarah become a mommy. She is one of those instinctive mothers who just sort of knows what to do so naturally that you wonder if she isn’t secretly hiding, like, six other children in a back room somewhere that she has birthed and raised. My sweet Sadie Bug is such a happy little girl because of her awesome momma. I’ve only been a mom for three months (to beautiful Sadie!) but…

Tried and True Baby Products: Day Two

Today’s guest post is from one of my favorite international momma’s.  Michelle is my sister’s lifelong best friend.  I grew up with Michelle practically living at our house.  To see her as a mom has been such a treat and pleasure.  Michelle went backpacking in Australian after college, and while she was there she picked up all kinds of souvenirs… including a hunky Aussie husband!  She now lives in Australia with her sweet husband, Max, and their newest addition, Lachlan.  You can follow along on her Australian parenting adventures on…

Tried and True Baby Products: Day One

This week I have asked several of my friends and family to guest post in the Romper Room.  Each of the women who will be writing are moms with infants younger than one year old.  I asked each mom to send me a list of their favorite baby products they use and why.  I have done lists like this before, but I think it helps to get other viewpoints from all different kinds of moms.   Today I asked one of my favorite blogger friends to share her favorites.  Kat…

Gracie’s Room Update

Lately, we have been sending Gracie to her room when she gets really worked up. If we can’t play in water for whatever reason and I can’t get her to calm down any other way, then she has to go to her room until she stops crying. Then she can come out and play with us again. This is not a punishment. It is just to get her into a quiet place where she can calm herself down. And she usually does within about 3 minutes. It is amazing. This…

Look What I Found! Butt Paste!

One of the first baby products I ever received was a big, giant tub of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. I remember it so well. Ahhh…memories… It was at my very first shower when I was pregnant with Michael, and a girlfriend gave it to me as a joke because it had “butt paste” in the name. (You know you’ve had children too young when phrases like “butt paste” make you explode in fits of giggles!)   Michael hardly ever had diaper rash. Like, ever. In fact, I don’t think he had…

Hypothetically

Y’all.  Something terrible has happened. I have discovered Zulily.  And my life will never be the same. My sister and my mom have mentioned Zulily to me before as having great deals, but my budget is usually a bit tighter than theirs and so a “great deal” to them is sometimes not so great for me.  BUT!  Zulily is for me, too! I stumbled on it tonight when I accidentally clicked an ad in the sidebar on Facebook.  And my mind was BLOWN.  Seriously.  I am embarrassed to admit how…

Potty in Da House

About three weeks ago, Gracie started telling me when she had to go potty.  It took me a day or two to figure out what was going on, but she was pretty clear. “POOOOOOPY!” she’d yell, and then she’d grab her bottom and start dancing around. After the third time, I finally caught on.  (I’m slow on the uptake sometimes…) She wasn’t able to tell me before she actually went, though.  Usually, she’d tell me just after and she would demand a diaper change.  “Poopy, Mommy.  Poopy die-py.” I started…
