I Win.
We all know that Bean is a daddy’s boy. He and Chris are just cosmically connected. Something about their shared love of cartoons and their desire to be pantsless as much as possible.
Well, last night Chris was carrying Beanie upstairs for his bath. I heard them clomping up the stairs together, giggling and yelling and making it really hard for me to catch up with Top Chef on my DVR.
Suddenly, I heard a whack. And then complete silence for about 2 seconds. And then Beanie started wailing. Screaming. Heaving with sobs. I jumped up and ran up the stairs to find Chris and Bean standing in Bean’s bedroom doorway, Beanie screaming bloody murder and Chris looking like a deer in headlights.
“I knocked his head on the door frame!” Chris shouted over the crying as he tried to calm Beanie down.
“Oh, no!” I gasped in mock horror. “Beanie’s tiny, little brain!”
As soon as I spoke, Beanie turned to see me. And then, in slow motion, he lifted his little arms for me to take him from Chris.
It was the first time Bean has ever lifted his arms to be held before. And who did he lift them out to?
His Momma! WOO HOO!!!
I win! I win! I win!
Not that I view parenting as a competition at all. No way. I know that Chris and I are on the same team. Its me and him. Him and me. We’re indivisible.
I’m just saying that if parenting was a competition…
I totally would have won that round.

Aw, it’s so precious when babies hold their arms out to be held. Congratulations on winning 😉

You totally won! My Ava has yet to hold her arms out to anyone. But I did whack her head on the door frame of the bathroom today. Both me and my three year old froze, waiting for the wailing, but no, Ava just looked at us like, what are you doing? Of course that leaves me wondering if I caused brain damage and broke her ouch that hurt button . . .

Haha! I am like that too! Rohan hasn’t done the arm thing yet, but you can see the look on Josh’s face when, after a whole day home with daddy, I come home from work and Rohan is just tickled pink to see me. Although it is probably bc he can smell the milk on me, I like to think it is because he likes mom best:)

I actually think you get TWO points here. One for NOT being the parent to concuss the baby and the other for being the “go to”.
Yay for you!

That is hilarious! Not that Beanie got his head whacked, but because it was that moment he thought you could save him! So now the sweetness starts! He can tell you when he wants you.
I LOVE these pictures of Beanie playing with his daddy!!

Tell Chris not to worry though. He will still say Dada before Mama.

The first person Jack held his arms out to was a friend of mine. And he’s a total Daddy’s boy. So I hear ya about having an “I WIN!” moment. 🙂

HAHAHAHA – I love it! I agree with Mindee – 2 pts for you! Also – the photos are great! Good luck to Chris for the next round 😉

OK, not only am I laughing at this, but I am wiping the tears from my eyes. Imagining Chris and Beanie having fun and then wacking his head on the door is SO FUNNY to me because every time I go through a doorway with Levi I fear doing that!! Oh my goodness. Thats hilarious. Poor Bean.
Hilary
I love the photos you take – what kind of camera do you have?
Katherine
The photos are priceless, and ditto to Hilary, I’d love to know about your camera! What an adorable boy!!

Both of my boys have lived through the door-facing-head-whack experience……and lived to tell about it.
With perhpas a few IQ points less than what they might have had, but alive nonetheless.

OMG, tears are coming out of my eyes!!! LMAO!
