We Play. We Laugh. We Eat Leaves.
“Hey, look at this!” said Bean.
“That’s a leaf,” Chris said.
“Hmm…” said Bean. “I wonder what a leaf tastes like…”
“No, Bean Bean,” said Chris. “We don’t eat leaves.”
“Oh,” said Bean. “Well, how about this one instead?”
“No, Bean Bean,” said Chris. “We don’t eat leaves, Buddy.”
“But Dad! I just found that!”
“I know, Bean, but we don’t eat leaves.”
“Well, fine,” said Bean. “This thing over here doesn’t look like a leaf. Big Molly, does this look like a leaf to you?”
“No way, Dude,” said Big Molly. “I’m not getting in the middle of this.”
“Well, I don’t think its a leaf,” said Bean.
“BEAN! What did I just say?” said Chris. “We do not eat leaves.”
“GEEZ, DAD!” said Bean. “I can’t eat ANYTHING down here in the grass!”
“Sorry, buddy,” said Chris. “Those are the rules of playing outside. Now, why don’t you come up here and hang with me for a little bit instead.”
“Don’t even try, Dad,” said Bean. “You are so uncool.”

You need to nip that in the bud, because one of my best friends when I was little ate leaves (only in the fall – crunchy ones) and every once in a while a family member will still remember that about her.
Don’t let Bean become leaf boy.
It’ll haunt him.

And then you go inside and try to get him to eat broccoli and spinach. Life is a major conundrum for the little ones.

Glad to know Bink isn’t the only one who tries to eats leaves!

Hahaha, thank you Katie! I was having a REALLY rough morning and you just made me laugh! Thank you!
I kept my daughters from eating leaves and stuff, keep my daycare kids from eating leaves and stuff, but Little Man…. I’ve given up… I’m going to try my new theory that if I let him taste it all he’ll stop being so obsessed about tasting it all (I obviously wont be testing this theory with dog poop though!) It’s so hard when they’re in the crawling stage outside because you spend your entire time pulling leaves and grass out of their mouths!

So cute!

How precious!
Nate's Mom
We want to set Nate down in the grass outside, but my husband fertilized the lawn and we’re not sure if it soaked in yet…. If Nate got a hold of a leaf, it would likely be a chemically treated one!!!

To me the most amazing thing about this post is not he is eating leaves, but that he is wearing a shorty-onesie! (or whatever you call that garment. . .). It’s drizzling, windy and about 45 degrees F in Ottawa today, and your post reminded me of time spent living in Florida.

Ha! What frustration! That last picture is great, but all of them are funny. He is a little man of many expressions.

meh..I say let him eat leaves! good for the immunity..
LOVE the indignant look on his face!
Mindee@ourfrontdoor
But if he doesn’t eat leaves, how will he get a healthy immune system? And freak out his grandmamas?
