Early to Bed

So, tonight Chris is working late like he has been for the past few days.  That meant that when Bean went to bed at 7:30, it was quiet in the house.  Quiet enough that I started to get a little sleepy.  And as I was sitting on the couch trying to will myself awake, I thought, “Why?  Why do I have to stay awake?  If I want to go to bed, then I’m going to bed!”

So, I went to bed.

But at the last minute I remembered you guys and decided to bring my laptop with me.  Which means I am currently blogging to you right now from the cozy comfort of my fluffy bed at 8:00pm.

And I feel pretty good about that, actually.

Wanna know my favorite part of this bedroom? It has a remote control for the ceiling fan. At first, I was like, “Wow, that is lazy.” But now I’m more like, “Wow, that’s the GREATEST INVENTION EVER! GIVE THAT CREATIVE INVENTIVE GENIUS WHO CREATED THIS THING A NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!”

Let’s say it’s the middle of the night and I wake up hot as Hades (which happens a LOT), now I don’t have to crawl out of bed, waving my arms around until I find the switch on the fan. Instead, I can just grab my remote and turn up the speed on the fan. BRILLIANT!

Remote controls and any other tool in life that allows you to be more comfortable while not actually having to move is a big deal during pregnancy. Even though I’m not too big right now, I can already see how this is going to change my pregnancy in the 8th and 9th months. Hot flashes? Grab the remote! Night sweats? Grab the remote! Chills? Grab the remote!

Speaking of pregnancy bellies… (we were speaking of those, right?) Check out the New Guy. He’s popping right on out of there, isn’t he? Sort of looks like I swallowed a basketball. Which is too cute. But in about four months it’s going to look like I ate an entire basketball team. And in two months after that, it’ll look like I ate the cheerleaders, too. So, cute now is ENORMOUS later. Just keep that in mind.

And check out what’s on my nightstand right now…

During my first pregnancy, this was my survival guide. This time around, it’s more like a scrapbook. A photo album. A memory box. Each chapter I read makes me smile and giggle and remember being pregnant with Bean and then I pat my big ol’ belly and eat another Twinkie.

Pregnancy does have it’s perks.

It is now officially 8:30pm. Way past New Guy’s bedtime. I’m signing off and heading to bed.

As soon as I finish this Twinkie.

aw, too cute! And getting to bed early is amazing…always a good thing to do. I have to admit, I’m jealous of the ceiling fan remote. I’m still stuck at blindly waving my arms around until I find the switch 🙂

the remotes on fans are great….until your neighbors garage door operates on the same code. our light would randomly go on and off in the middle of the night depending on when he came home. just fyi in case you start to think you have a ghost or something.

adorable belly! now that i’m moving into my 3rd trimester, the belly is still cute but more obstructive. i wish i could have stayed at the 5 month belly the whole time. i felt cute and could still

reach my toes. (sorry i push buttons randomly)

enjoy your twinkies. i no longer feel guilty for my cupcake and mac n cheese cravings.

I have a fan remote (it also dims and turns the lights on and off) – and I completely agree that it is the best invention EVER! It was at my parents house, so now I am at Georgia Southern w/o it…depressing.

hahaha! One of the things my fiance hates about our apartment is no fan in the bedroom!

(and my wedding is in 10 days…and I’ve been so exhausted and was in bed at 9pm last night. So thing tonight probably 😉

Going to bed early is one of the greatest joys of life! I love it when I am in bed by 8 or 8:30. It’s so cozy to be all cuddled up in the covers reading or watching TV on the laptop, especially in winter when our house is freezing cold!

  • Christina

If I only had a remote that made dinner appear.
Wait. I think that’s called a magic wand, and they only happen in Disney princess movies. Sigh. A Disney princess I am not
I love laptops! Your belly is super cute!
    I hope you had a great night’s sleep. 🙂

Dude, where was the photo of you shoving a twinkie into your mouth. I mean, if it’s a play-by-play, you have to follow through 🙂

p.s. isn’t it amazing how fast you start showing the second time around? and isn’t it amazing how all that crap you obsessed over the first time is FUNNY and pretty darn insignificant now?

Remote controlled fans are awesome. At our old place we had one for the bedroom and the living room (which also controlled the lights). I miss both the remote and the ceiling fan (I’ve never really liked them before, but now I’m sad we don’t have one anymore!)

New Guy is definitely pretty cute in there! Pretty sure you’ll still be adorable even when the whole basketball team and cheerleaders are in there too!

Last weekend I got off of work at 6pm, got home, put on my pjs, and got into bed. I ate dinner there, read the kids their bedtime stories there (which they loved), and then spent the next couple of hours with my remote and my laptop. It was the best night ever. I love my bed.

Sounds like you’re feeling better, glad to hear it!

That’s so funny because I have the exact same book on my nightstand as we speak! I remember pouring through it early on in my pregnancy when everything freaked me out. Now that I’m more than half way done, I’m starting to calm down and only pick it up every now and then when I have a specific question. But it’s a great resource to have!

And your belly looks so cute! Basketball, smasketball. . . there’s a baby in there! 😉

I love when I get to go to bed early. My hubby tries to keep me up late, but when he’s gone or working on something at home, I go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00, and it is glorious!

Going to bed early, wish I knew what that felt like….my classes and schoolwork have turned me into a night owl. Love your baby belly, I can’t believe how pronounced the New Guy is already…like he’s trying to establish his presence in the family early on.

  • Joanie

Awww look at that sweet baby belly! I popped out way early with baby #2 (and 3…and 4) too, but with the last two didn’t get much bigger than the initial pop! The week our daughter was born I had nurses in the hospital who were setting me up for my NST ask me was I SURE that I was 38 weeks pregnant because I had such a small little baby bump. Funny thing was, at 15 weeks I had everyone asking was I having twins because they thought I was enormous for 15 weeks. Ha.

Congratulations on The New Guy! Looking forward to following you through this pregnancy!

Going to bed early is such a treat! Time all to yourself will become rarer and rarer – take advantage of it every chance you get.

  • Nikki

Love love love our remote! He likes the fan on low but as soon as he’s passed out i can sneakily turn the fan on high without getting out of bed and waking him up! I’m also a huge fan of the early bed time. Went to bed around 8ish last night and it was bliss. Had to wake up at 1:30am to Skype with the bf, so I planned ahead. Adorable baby bump!

Sweet girl (nah I am not southern lol) I think you look wonderful. The second prego is just as hard as the first if not more, cause now you are chasing the first one around as well. My fist was 4 before I was prego again. I don’t think I could of handled it if she hadn’t of been potty trained, could feed herself, and dress herself. My Ex asked my one time when I was 9 mths along, what did I have to be tired about? You saw the “EX” part right?

Just wanted to thank you on your woderful blog. I have to read you and PW daily!

Hopefully one day this weekend Chris will let you put your feet up for a few hours.
