A Festivus for the Rest of Us

This past weekend was the Winter Park Autumn Arts Festival.  Which to me means “FUNNEL CAKES!” and to my mom means, “SHOPPING!”  But with Bean being an actual human being with preferences and opinions now, our festival activities expanded to include for the first time ever…

The Dance of The Bean.

You can’t tell from these pictures, but Bean is dancing.

How do I know this?

Note the bent knee.

That’s dancing to Bean. Bending your knees.

But because his knees are so short and his shorts are so long, you really can’t tell his knees are even bent. But, trust me. He’s dancing like his last name is Jackson.

He danced and he clapped and he danced some more. As you can tell from the expression on his face, he takes his dancing very seriously.

In fact, he became such a proficient dancer at the arts festival that he felt he deserved a more central position in the crowd. A more visible position in the crowd. Like, say, on the stage.

I have no pictures of Bean trying to climb up onto the back stairs to walk onto the stage because as he was doing this I was busy stage whispering across the lawn, “BEAN! BEAN! Come back here right this minute or you are grounded, Mister!” But, apparently Bean doesn’t understand stage whispering because he just kept on climbing. Thankfully, my mom was there to snatch him up before he wandered out onto the stage.

As much fun as it was to watch Bean dance his way all over the festival, my favorite part was when he saw me across the crowd.

That’s it. I’m buying him his own full-sized concert stage so he can dance until he can’t dance no more. With a smile like that, it’s the least I can do.

(Pay no attention to the corn dog and ketchup stains on his cheek…)
