Soak Up the Fun
Staying home on maternity leave (and now summer break from school) has left me sometimes feeling a little guilty. At the end of every day, I look around and ask myself if I got enough done to justify being home. Usually, the answer is no.
But while all of those chores and things need to get done, I forget that my main job when I stay at home is to be there for my kids. So when those rare times of pure fun come around, I soak it all in.
Seriously. I literally SOAK it all in…

Love it! That looks like so much fun, and I love Bean’s faces 🙂

Hilarious how Bean just stands there watching you run around like a madwoman 😀 Love those pics, definitely seems like you are having a blast!

Girlfriend, you two are having too much fun! As long as your family is happy (and fed and clean) by the end of the day, then your job is more than done. Everything else takes a backseat. Keep enjoying the fun summer days!

That is the most important job. Dishes can wait. I felt the same way on maternity leave but I got over it quickly enough. Snuggling and sleep were my priorities. I love the way Bean is just staring at you running around.

Aww! I love the faces Bean is making in these pictures. He looks so happy! Great pics!

Atta-mama! Your kids won’t remember if you kept a clean house but boy oh boy they’ll remember all the times you got a little goofy and ran through the sprinklers with them!

Oh my goodness, what wonderful pictures 🙂 … Makes me excited for the “someday” when I can chase my babies through the sprinkler <3

I agree with everyone else – Bean will remember the times you had fun with him and played like that…not how clean the house was, etc.

You are going to seriously treasure those photos and memories one day.
No one treasures clean kitchen floors someday.

From the looks of these pictures it’s pretty evident that you’re doing the most important job, and you’re doing it well =)

I think “have fun” should be on your daily chore list 🙂

Love it, Katie! I often feel the same way, so it’s nice to see someone like you doing such a wonderful job being a mom! It makes me feel like it’s all worth it 🙂

Thank you, I needed to read this today! My hours at work recently got slashed in half and I have been struggling with the need to be “productive” at home. This really hits home!

Being there for your kids is a full-time job…and the best and hardest one in the world! Bean will always grow up knowing you are there for him, and so will Gracie. What you’re doing is the best reason to be home! 🙂

I’m so glad to seeing you and Beanie enjoying the sprinkler. I had so much fun at the birthday party. Enjoy the kids – the work will still be there tomorrow Iunfortunately). LOL

I love it! I am currently 29 weeks pregnant with twin boys and the more and more I am cut back on the activities I can do the more and more I feel like I am not contributing the way I should to my family. I know I am growing two babies and by being on modified bed rest I am doing what is best for them, but sometimes it is hard. I love reading your blog and the honesty you share with all of us. I cannot wait for my boys to be here so we can enjoy play days just like you did today! Enjoy all the fun you can soak up this summer!

Looks like so much fun! Bean’s expression is priceless watching you being silly. Clean dishes/floors/laundry/dusting/whatever can wait. We just started ‘trying’ and I can’t wait for these times!
