The Whooshie Coonin

For Christmas, my mom put a whoopie cushion in one of the kids’ stockings.  It has provided hours of entertainment at our house, and might be one of the best presents they got.  Even I think it’s hysterical when one of the skinny kids sits on it and a huge, deep Ffffftttt comes out. They don’t know that you’re supposed to try and trick people into sitting on it, so they take turns blowing it up and sitting on it themselves.  Sometimes, they switch it up by blowing it up…

Happy 5th Birthday, Gracie Girl!

We have been counting down for this birthday since the day after she turned four.  Tomorrow, Gracie Girl turns five years old!  “A WHOLE HAND!” as she has reminded us for at least the past six months.  I interviewed Gracie last night about the excitement of her birthday, and I love this video because you can see so much of her personality in it.  Plus, I love to watch her talk.  It never gets old to me.  I could listen to her talk for hours.  That girl cracks me up.…

Wee Choir.

Bean joined the preschool choir at our new church. It’s called Wee Choir, and I am a wee bit obsessed with that name. It is just so darn cute that it makes me a wee bit giggly every time I say it. But you know what’s a wee bit cuter than the name? Hearing Bean say “Wee Choir.” It’s so cute that it’s a wee-ligious experience. Too far. I took it too far there. Anyway, here is a wee-diculously cute video of Bean’s Wee Choir debut at a performance this…

An Evening With Our Family

A while ago, I posted a video that was a “day in the life of…” video. It took you through a day with our family one video clip at a time. Unfortunately, I was recording the videos that day using my iPhone, and it died at dinner, so there were no videos of the after dinner/bedtime rush. I ended up recording video clips that night using our Flip video camera instead, and I thought I’d share it with you today. I am super curious about what real, daily life looks…

Bet You Thought I Forgot…

Better late than never, right????  Here is the annual birthday video for my Bean Bean.  We had so much fun with him this past weekend celebrating his 4th birthday.  I’ll post later this week about our trip to Disney World, but before all of that, I wanted to stop and look back over the year Bean has had.  Big Dude has had some big changes in his life this year, and through it all, he showed us how to not only survive, but thrive.  I look to Michael continuously for…

A Day in the Life

I’m toying with the idea of more vlogging.  Not sure yet if I like the idea, or if I am technology proficient enough to pull it off, but we’ll see.  For my first attempt, I decided to take you kind folk with me through a day in the life of our family.  This weekend was heavenly for us.  We didn’t leave the house once.  And it was wonderful!  On Sunday, I decided to video snippets of our day to give you all a glimpse inside one of our days.  It’s…

A Rip-ROAR-ing Good Time

When I was asked to review the new VTech Switch & Go Dinos, I thought it would be a breeze. Send me some dinosaur transformers for Bean to play with? Are you kidding me? SIGN ME UP! The dinosaurs are actually transformers that morph into cars. Two of Bean’s favorite things in one toy. This was going to be a breeze. He loved them, and they are virtually indestructible (believe me, Bean’s tried…). Bean likes that the faces of the dinosaurs (or the windshields of the cars, depending on what…

Hair of the Blog

When I was in Atlanta with my sister a couple weekends ago, I did a series of videos with her on her fashion and style. Mostly it was about her hair. A lot of blog readers ask about Ginny’s gorgeous hair when they see pictures of her, so I figured we’d go right to the source and ask her to walk us through her hair routine. It wasn’t as complicated as I was expecting. Which frustrates me. I wish she’d said she used some rare, ultra-expensive product that made her…

Happy 3rd Birthday, Bean!

Tomorrow, June 1, is Bean’s 3rd birthday. But I’m too excited to wait the one hour and fifteen minutes to post this on his actual birthday. We are celebrating tomorrow morning with Bean’s favorite breakfast – powdered donuts! And then we’re taking Lightning McQueen cupcakes to school for a party tomorrow afternoon. Then, after school, we are packing up and heading to our hometown to celebrate with Chris’s mom and her parents, who haven’t seen Bean in a couple years and who have not yet met Gracie. We’re only there…

Spelling Champ

A couple months ago, I accidentally stumbled on an article through Pinterest on the things your child needs to be able to do before they enter Kindergarten. Normally, I avoid milestone charting like the plague. They just stress me out, and it’s like Chris says, “Have you ever seen a college student who isn’t potty trained and still drinks from a sippy cup?” But somehow I found this article and was instantly sucked in. Most of the things Bean can do pretty well, like recognize numbers and letters, can follow…
